  • Happy Leap Day! Earth gets a speeding ticket. Rain Tuesday.

Happy Leap Day! Earth gets a speeding ticket. Rain Tuesday.

It is February 29th, 2016!  A leap day. Why are there leap days?  It used to be just so you could figure out when the Olympics were happening, but they messed that up when they decided to split up the Wonter and Summer Olympics.  OK, so not really the reason.  Leap days are used to…

  • Record high Thursday. Rain to starting Friday. Saturday OK. Wet Sunday.

It has been a pretty beautiful week overall. So beautiful in fact that we broke a record at the Airport for February 25.  The old record was set in 2008 at 12.5°C.  We reached 14.5°C officially at the Airport and over 15° here in the city. We will fond out next week when I do…

Drying out today and staying warm and dry until Friday

Congratulations! You made it through the dark times!  It seems we have finally emerged from a long series of rainy weather systems.  Monday has started damp but that should be the final bit of rain we see until at least Friday afternoon as you can see in the graph below. It should also get progressively…

  • Significantly less rain total expected from UWash vs. EC

Significantly less rain total expected from UWash vs. EC

Looking at the forecast totals for rain over the next couple days and I am seeing significantly different rain total amounts. Environment Canada is predicting 10-15mm tonight and another 20mm on Friday in their text forecasts. Compare that to the UWash WRF model that is only predicting up to 16 mm (blue) to fall in…
