Cold Cold Cold, then Snow Snow Snow?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Checked out the latest long long range forecasts for our region earlier and it looks like the models have us getting back into the freezer (just the fridge one this time, not the deep freeze) for a few days and then around February 1st we’re in for what looks like a fair bit of snow.

It’s a long ways out and so all subject to major change, but that’s the forecast for now. Darnit, and I was hoping I’d see all of my grass again before the time change in March!

Meanwhile… San Diegans are being told to turn off their lawn sprinklers to save water as some rain is coming through in the next few days for them down there. Does that seem a little backwards to anyone else?

UPDATE: Forecast has changed (surprise! :) ). I don’t think we’ll see any of the predicted flurries tomorrow… but who knows… but what has changed is this cold will end around Tuesday or Wednesday. We might get some snow Tuesday and then some warmer systems (above zero at least!) should give us rain later in the week.

It still looks like it we might get some snow for the beginning of February!

A very quiet week….

If you’re looking for exciting weather this probably won’t be the place for you over the next couple weeks. This ridge of high pressure is slated to stay quite firmly in place. It will keep sending the warmth towards Anchorage instead of Oceanside… well, except for Victoria area, Sooke got up to 15 yesterday! Tell that one to your friends and relatives out East. ;)
