Clearing, Colder, then Snow?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

OK, I think at this point it’s just wishful thinking… but I’m hoping for some snow for Thursday morning!

It should clear up nicely today (Tuesday) and be nice on Wednesday but coool.

I’m hoping that means white stuff Thursday morning or Wednesday night, but we won’t know until we get there!

Oh, and I added a new value down in the table below, above the Day High Wind value you’ll find “Current Solar Potential”.

This is based on the current solar radiation being measured at the station… it gives an estimate of how many Watts an array of solar panels would be receiving and converting into power. It’s based on if I had 3 Sharp 80W solar panels from Canadian Tire… which add up to about 1.9 square meters of surface area and have an effeciency of 12%.

Should I be superstitious? :) Everywhere I looked today… kept seeing this white stuff… on the mountains… on the TV from Ontario (95cm)… the only place I didn’t see it where it should have been was at the Grey Cup. I think it should be held in Regina… every year! :D

Storm Comin!

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Friday we should get some wind. They’re calling for 90-110kph on the West Coast but only up to 60kph for us. The little voice inside me hopes for a little more than that tomorrow, but I doubt it as it’s a front rather than a big low coming across.

We’ll see what happens. If you get severe weather in your area don’t hesitate to post a comment.

And if you haven’t got in on the Snow Pool yet, Go here and register your guess in the comments. Prizes yet to be determined. :)

Snow Pool!

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Well… I think it’s about time we had an annual “snow pool”… that is, a pool to see who can predict the first snowfall… closest date without going over wins!

I say December 5.

Snowfall will be considered any noticeable accumulation/sticking on my neighbours roof in front of the webcam or seen outside my doorstep if it’s nightime. :)

Slickers… DEPLOY!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Get ready for a whole lotta wet today and tomorrow! No warnings for us, but still more than enough to keep anyone happy. It should dry out, and cool down, by Sunday.
