No update yet from BC Wildfire this morning.

The weather is much cooler this morning which will help things.

Update Sunday 9AM

The fire report this morning has the fire at double yhe last report.  It is now 3 hectares (7 acres).  You could also call it 2 Martin Mars large. (The Hawaii Mars covers about 3-4 acres per drop.  She is currently awaiting repair though from the damaged suffered in Osh Kosh)

The fire weather forecast from Friday for our region has indicates warm weather is expected to continue today and there is the possibility it may intensify mid week next week so it is important that they get this fire under control and in mop up before then.

If you have pictures of the fire don’t hesitate to send them along.

Update Saturday Afternoon

The fire has grown to 1.5ha.  Here is the view from near Gyro Park.

The BC Wildifre service has aircraft and ground crews on it according to the City.

Lets hope this isn’t a repeat.

There is nothing to say but that this is totally unacceptable and irresponsible.    This fire was set last night, intentionally or not, by a person reportedly around 6KM up Comox Main road past Beaver Creek.

If you know anything about how this fire was caused please alert the authorities.

To Report a Wildfire call 1 800 663-5555, or *5555 on a cell phone

We are in the middle of August and even though we have had some cool and moist weather, the fire danger remains at Moderate and is expected to go to High in the next day or two.  There is no excuse for this.

Please be safe out there.
