Frosty but Sunny Monday and Tuesday – Rainy and maybe stormy late week

We should be in for some beautiful spring weather Monday and Tuesday as the skies clear and the sun warms us up. It will start cold though, it is below freezing this morning and likely will be Tuesday as well. We might see fog develop to start the morning but it should burn off before noon.

Temperatures will reach above 10°C and possibly as high as 15°C Tuesday depending on that fog in the morning.

Crazy Sunday thunderstorm

That was quite the afternoon thunderstorm we had on Sunday. The whole south coast was impacted by the wild weather with the most impressive feature being very strong wind gusts. An unusual NE 56kph gust recorded at the airport blew through the whole valley around 3:15PM and caused power outages and downed branches.

Likely the same wind front delivered a nearly 90kph gust to YVR airport in Vancouver.

With my anemometer offline, I was not able to record the gust, but my yard definitely felt it.

Thursday showers

A new cold front will slide down the Island overnight Wednesday and bring us showers Thursday morning.

We’ll wait to see how the models develop this over the next couple days before getting any more specific but you can at least prepare for rain. The Easter weekend looks unstable and showery, possibly thunderstormy.
