  • Picture post! More snow than expected. Rain and warmth coming next!

We lucked out and it stayed quite a bit colder than was originally forecast! We ended up with one of the biggest totals of snow on the Island along with Courtenay. 8.5cm was measured at Alberniweather HQ. It’s going to get warm too. It should be 5°C or more today and tomorrow. Then Wednesday morning…

  • Precip won’t start until overnight. Beware of snow and freezing rain.

The morning model says we will stay dry until around 2AM tonight… Here is the precipitation. Here is the snow for the same time. As you can see the Valley is not included with the snow, however, the temperature is set at just above zero. So If this holds I expect anything that falls to…

  • Friday pockets then Dump and Wash Monday and Tuesday.

And there are snowy looking clouds in the Strait this morning off Nanaimo. It won’t amount to much, but there is possibility for accumulation, and thus poor…

  • Environment Canada is the official authority on Canadian Weather Forecasting

I want to get this out there because of late I have heard much chatter about the role and influence of social media, amateur weather sites, and official weather from Environment Canada, and elsewhere. Really bluntly: You should never trust anything on this website, or any other non-Environment Canada or non-Government Agency website to be…
