Airport record hit yesterday – but misses all-time.
The Airport got to a high of 33.4ºC yesterday, June 8 2025. That broke the record for the day at that location but not historically. The highest temperature recorded in Port Alberni on a June 8 was 37.2ºC at the Beaver Creek station in 1903.
Regardless, it was hot! We can expect warm temperatures to continue through Wednesday, then we’ll have a slight change and temperatures will drop to around 20ºC with a mix of sun and clouds.
Wildfire starts west of Port Alberni near Nahmint Mountain.
Unfortunately, a human-caused wildfire was reported on June 8. It is now listed as out-of-control and 15 hectares as of the morning of June 9.

It appears to be in the mountains above Nahmint Lake to the west.
We are having pretty strong north and easterly winds right now with the ridge of high pressure so we probably won’t see much if any smoke from the fire unless the winds calm overnight and the smoke settles down into the Valley. But it is separated by at least on or two ridges so unless it grows significantly, I don’t think we’ll see much.
Fire Danger Rating remains High
The Fire Danger Class in Port Alberni (listed as Beaver Creek on the BC Wildfire service page ) is at 4 or High.

The forecast is for it to remain high through Wednesday. With the change to cooler weather on Thursday, it should not rise, but there is also no significant precipitation in the forecast so the conditions will remain dry in the forest.
Stay safe out there.
Data on the webpage.
You may have noticed a few updates to the webpage. The Dataview has been having some troubles of late which are ongoing so I have switched the default view to the NeoView. The dataview is still there and the temperature, wind and other data are live, but the high/low values and some others are missing. It is experimental software so I am working with the developers to help them figure it out.
Hope you’re able to find time to get to the lake or river before the heat goes away.
Have a great day!
