I’ve been running some data analysis on my weather archive here. A record is stored in my database every 5 minutes… so far I have 230,000 records! That’s over 800 days of data… or over 2 years and counting.

Some useful averages over that long term:

Average Windspeed: 4.5kph (
Average Gust Windspeed: 9.0kph
Average Wind Direction: 130 (SE)
Average Temp: 8.6C
Average Humidity: 80%

Max Temp: 40.9
Min Temp: -7
Min Windchill: -13.6
Max (measured)Windspeed: 102.9kph
Min Humidity: 14%

And just for fun… in my living room, where the base station/console sits for the Station…

Min Temp: 15.8C
Max Temp: 33.6C (yuk!)
Avg Temp: 21.4C
Avg Humid: 41.2%

  1. was in Tofino from yesterday afternoon until early this evening,on business…honestly, at this time of year, I wish that I had the great fortune of living there…..weather wise, for sure. Must admit that I would never go there in the summer…..haven’t since being a kid. Different weather every few minutes. Lots of wind, rain, sun, fog….all my favourite stuff! And so often you look out the window and whala! A smorgasbord of my favourite thing….weather. If that’s your thing then go there now.
