Records will fall. Heat continues to Thursday

Environment Canada just updated their special weather statement.. It is below.

We set a record at the Airport for the day yesterday and we will likely set one today as well as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. These are not long term record though. I will hopefully get a chance to go through the long term stats and see if we have set any daily highs over the long term. The chances are pretty good.

Stay cool out there!

Special weather statement in effect for:

Inland Vancouver Island
Hot weather to peak today…

The highest temperatures of the current hot spell are expected today for coastal British Columbia. Afternoon maximums will approach or exceed 32 degrees inland and away from the cooling influence of the ocean. In the Alberni Valley, temperatures today will reach the mid 30’s while in the Pemberton Valley, temperatures could exceed 40 degrees.

Even after the peak of the heat today, temperatures will rise into the upper 20’s to low 30’s each afternoon through Wednesday, a solid 5 to 8 degrees above normal.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the Lower Mainland early Monday morning as an upper disturbance moves northwards from Washington state.

Hot, dry weather can lead to higher fire risk. Please see the B.C. wildfire management branch website at bcwildfire.Ca for more details and fire safety tips.
