Don’t go if you don’t have to. And please, don’t drive through huge puddles and rivers. It’s not worth the risk (and you might swamp someone else. Highway 1 to Victoria is closed at the Malahat and possibly other areas near Duncan.

High Streamflow, Watches and Warnings currently in effect at 8AM

The rain will continue most of today. If you are driving please consider where you are going and expect pooling, flowing water across the road, and other hazards. If the water looks like it might be deep DON’T CROSS IT!

Port Alberni has got off relatively easy as the rain has been focused just slightly south. Hope has beat its all time day record yesterday by more than 40mm. The entire town of Merritt is on Evac Alert due to potential water supply disruption.
