Afternoon showers through the week – First Long Weekend Forecast

Anyone else get a sunburn over the weekend? 🙂

We will be getting a break from the sun this week as we stay mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers every afternoon.

Monday should be mostly dry with just a slight chance of drizzle in the afternoon.  The best chance for thunderstorms looks to be south of us in the Cowichan Valley as you can see from the 5PM precipitation image below:

There isn’t a big chance of thunderstorms so nothing to worry too much about, but if you hear a rumble, that’s probably what it is.

Here is Tuesday. We see quite a bit more activity in the afternoon with strong rain showers across all of the high terrain especially.  It isn’t showing much in the Valley but we might get a passing shower or two.

Here finally here is Wednesday.

Again, strong rain showers over the high hills but not much at all in the Valley.

Long Weekend Look

Of course the big question is what will the May Long Weekend be like?

Basically, the models look very much the same for every day except Sunday.  As it was earlier in the week showers are predicted to develop everyday in the afternoon in spots across the island but nothing widespread or major.

So at this point don’t expect a perfect, clear sunny and hot May Long Weekend.  However, it should be more than fine for camping as long as you have some protection from the odd rain shower.  Temperatures will be in the 20-25ºC range.  With the warmest predicted right now to be Friday or Saturday.
