UPDATE: 1:14PM Looks like the barometer has bottomed out at 99.3kPa and the wind has picked up on cue. There are power outages in various locations on the East Coast of the Island. Sutton Pass is snow covered, doesn’t look nice.

The wind today should stick mainly to the East Coast of the Island but as it did on Monday, it could find its way into the Valley as well. It’s currently blowing in Courtney and Powell River as well as Nanaimo.

The worst should come through around noon when the barometer is forecast to bottom out near 99kPa.

We will get plenty of rain today. Again not nearly as much moisture as we got from the snow and rain on Monday, but not a small amount either.

After a bit of a break tomorrow we will get another pulse on Saturday night and into Sunday. It looks as though it will be a little weaker than today’s storm.

Enjoy the November Rain… And Happy Turkey day to all my American viewers (I know there are some of you out there!)

  1. Funny it seems just as the wind picks up here in the Valley, EC has removed the wind warnings for the Island and most of the Lower Mainland, along with Haida Qwaii

  2. And just as this storm moves on, another real nasty one is fast approaching from the West. The maritime forecasts are for up to 70knt winds over the Central Coast…. Even now at midnight, the wind at work is holding around 35knts.
