The hour by hour forecast:

Monday will be warm and cloudy but get ready for some real rainfall Tuesday evening.

Showers will begin to creep onto the West Island, Tofino, Ucluelet, Bamfield and Port Renfrew before 5PM Tuesday.

Rain Scale – Millimeters on top, centi-inches on bottom. (1024cin = 10 inches)

Rain showers will pick up in those same areas in the 5-8PM period. Showers also begin in the south Cowichan, Victoria and Vancouver areas.

Rain will intensify on the West Island in the 8-11pm period with some reaching into Port Alberni and Cowichan as well as on the East Island and in Victoria and Vancouver.

Rain intensifies further overnight and lasts through until morning at least 8AM Wednesday morning.

Totals in the 30mm range

Things should begin to dry up my late morning on Wednesday.

The total precipitation for the event could be as much as 30mm in the Port Alberni and West Coast areas with double that possible in the mountains. Courtenay will get a little less than that and Nanaimo and Victoria should only expect up to 8mm.

This is more rain over a longer period than we’ve had for quite a while. It will be very welcome.

Showers will linger on Wednesday and into Thursday but it should get sunny and hot again over the weekend.

Have a great Monday!
