Two fires in Alberni Valley but Possible Forecast change to showers.

First Fires of the Season in the Alberni Valley

ate yesterday afternoon two small fires were reported by the BC Wildfire service.  Both were person caused but thankfully both were very small (0.009 hectare, 90sqm, 960 sqft).

imageOne fire was at Woodwards pit between Sproat Lake and the landfill and he other was out Beaver Creek.

This should be taken as a warning.  Please.  Use extreme caution whenever you are outside.  Everything is dry including grass, bush, trees and any detritus on the ground.

Models change. Possible showers Thursday.

We got up to 30.00°C here at Alberniweather on Monday and 29.9°C officially at the Airport which was another daily record for the month.  Tuesday is going to be sunnier and warmer than forecast yesterday but there has been a welcome change in the models forecast.

Here is Thursday Afternoon and Friday Morning.

wa_pcp3.69.0000 wa_pcp3.84.0000Now since this only just popped up in the forecast, you may want to take this with a grain of salt.  However, it is within the 3-day forecast so the probability of it being correct is pretty strong.

Friday especially looks like a nice respite.  The total 48hr rainfall from Thursday morning to Saturday morning is below and shows between 4 and 8mm (0.16in and 0.32in) falling in that timeframe.

wa_pcp48.108.0000It’s not a huge amount that’s for sure but it should be enough to at least calm the fire risk down to High hopefully and give a little rain to the lakes and rivers.

We will see if it pans out.  We will be back to sun and warm weather by Sunday afternoon.

Have a great Tuesday and stay safe out there!
