Updated 11:30AM — Thursday Snow-Maybe-Cast – Check it out! :)

Update 11:30AM — Snow has finally come, mainly to higher elevations though there is some wet snow and sleet falling in Port Alberni. Sutton Pass looks nearly impassible. The Hump is snowing but not too bad.

Please drive carefully.

Now that the precipitation is here, it will likely keep snowing for as long as the strong intensity of precipitation continues which should last at least another hour or two and may pick up again on and off into the evening.

There has been very little change in temperature and there are only weak winds and flow so I anticipate most of the precipitation to fall as snow, especially at higher elevations.

It should be dry and finished by 8PM.

Stay safe all.

Update 6:30AM: This system is looking even weaker than the last forecast that showed it weakening from the forecast before that. Pretty underwhelming. I’m starting to wonder if we’re going to get anything out of this at all!

There is moisture on the radar, but it is light, high level, and focused only barely on our region. South of us and Parksville, it is still dry.

Beware of course that conditions may change. But I’m not impressed so far!

OK, short update just the bare minimum to let you know what’s up. 🙂

Snow – Probability I’d say is about 60%
Time – Models say won’t come until at least 6AM possibly later.
Amount – All models indicate 5-8cm possible. But may be 0-2cm depending on temperature.
Warm change over – I think it will be 5C by noon. If it isn’t expect more snow. If it is, the snow might be gone by evening.
Rain – I will be surprised if it doesn’t start raining after noon. And then we’re in for it for the rest of the week.

There is a possibility for freezing rain in the morning. Please be careful. There is also a possibility for heavy snowfall at times though I think this is less likely.

Hoping for the best… NO SCHOOL… but doubtful unless it is dumping at 6 or 7AM in the morning, I expect school to be fully on. Sorry! 🙂

Whatever happens, please drive carefully, and have fun.
