Sun tanning on Friday on the mountain?

The jetstream continues to deflect all of the weather in the Pacific up into Alaska, Yukon and northern BC.

The image above is for Friday. That big bend is going to allow some very warm air into the region Friday but possibly with an inversion, so we might be stuck in the fog. Check out this chart for Friday afternoon.

See how the temperatures are much warmer on land, especially in the Cascades, and along the mountain ranges? The Cascades have a patch of over 72F or 22C forecast! On the Island we are looking at mid teens. This is not good news for Mt. Washington or the snowpack, but if you are looking for your first tan of the year, you might want to head up the mountain!

The snowpack on the South Island remains almost non existent (black line).

I would anticipate us to have fog in this strong of an inversion, however, given how warm it will be, who knows, maybe we will break out and challenge for another daily record like we did on Monday.

This warmth should be brief, we should be back down closer to normal temperatures on the weekend but just in case, get out the sun tan lotion! 🙂 And yes, I said that in January!
