Special Weather Statement issued for Thursday/Friday/Saturday rain storm

Environment Canada issued the following statement… It’s also worth noting their mention of freezing levels which means it will be raining on the mountains too.

Pineapple express rainstorm expected Thursday night through
Saturday.

==discussion==
A pineapple express-type rainstorm will develop across the South
Coast of BC on Thursday. A warm Pacific front will tap into some
very moist air from the sub-tropics, boosting rainfall rates to
between 5 and 10 millimetres per hour. The rainfall intensity will
increase Thursday night and the rain will remain heavy through
Saturday morning.

Current indications suggest that the west coast of vancouer island
near Tofino will absorb the brunt of the storm with storm totals
approaching 150 millimetres. Other areas around the South Coast will
probably receive at least 75 to 100 millimetres by late Saturday.
Freezing levels exceeding 2000 metres will also accompany this storm.

However, there is still uncertainty to the intensity and the track of
this storm system. Rainfall warnings will possibly be issued for
parts of the South Coast as the event draws closer.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as
warnings may be required or extended.
