There is a major storm hitting the North Coast. It’s not giving us much trouble here though there will be wind on the East Coast and plenty of rain.

The real action is happening on the water where there is a Hurricane force wind warning for the North section of West Vancouver Island.

True to form, right now it is blowing 65knots and gusting to 75knots… That’s 120kph to 140kph! It has gusted as high as 81knots, 148kph, which is Category 2 on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane scale.

If I ever make a bucket list. Being on Solander Island in a hurricane (in a bunker :).. its a bucket list not a death wish) would be one of the items.

Seriously though, if you are headed to the West Coast or East Coast (especially towards Campbell River) beware of high winds.

Next week there are rumours of flurries in the forecast as outflow winds look to be setting up that will push cold air onto the Island from the Interior. More tomorrow!
