As I figured might happen, we didn’t get anywhere near -7C last night. In fact, thanks to the fog and pointed out by our commenters, it was colder in Ucluelet this morning at -2.5C than it was here in town at -1.5C. So you see, the Fog isn’t all bad. 🙂

Now the question is what happens tomorrow?

The fog keeps us mild, but as we also found out Thursday and Friday, it keeps us steady… so we are about to find out just how long it can hang on.

We have a lot of moisture headed our way between Saturday night and Tuesday. I would give us a 80% chance of finishing up with lots of rain… the only question is, how much snow will fall between then and now.

We should start to see flakes in the sky Sunday morning.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if they kept BC Place open and we had snow falling inside for the game tomorrow!?

  1. Yup, you nailed it Chris.  The latest EC forecast for Sunday night is for “snow at times heavy beginning in the evening. Amount 5 to 10 cm. Temperature steady near zero”.

  2. No no no.. Murphy’s law clearly states now that my aunt has purchased a small snowblower (as I’m not always around to shovel) that we won’t get any snow tonight… 😉

    1. Chris…just looking at the EC Western Canada image….looks like a bright orange blast of cold air is getting very close to us. Is the midnight snow dump EC has said arriving sooner?

  3. That bright orange color in the Satellite image is pure precipitation!

Click on the Animations in the satellites section and check out the color infrared loop.  It’s moving fast.

I agree, it’s going to start snowing before Midnight…   The GFS model was predicting that yesterday as well. it will be interesting though, the fog is weak today, we’re going to warm up a bit.

The precipitation will cool us off but whether it cools us off enough now for snow we’ll see.

    1. As expected… we’re now down to ‘late this evening’ for snow.  Accumulations have been upgraded from 5-10cm to solid 10cm now.   total accumulation is 20cm (9in) before turning to rain.

and boy.. do we have rain coming.
