Snow Contest 2012! Guess the First Snow and Win a Prize!

REMINDER: The Deadline for Entries is Monday 6AM. That is also the earliest time you can guess. If you have already guessed and want to change your mind, that’s OK as long as you do it before 6AM Monday. The contest was in the paper today! :+) Cool stuff. Hope everyone has fun. And btw. It’s CHILLY OUT THERE! 🙂

It’s time to rev-up the snow contest! Pick your date and time in the comments of this post only.

A prize will be announced in a little while once I scrounge one up. 🙂

When will we get the first measureable amount of snow on the ground at Alberniweather Headquarters.

Here are some resources to help you make your decision. Note that *none* of these resources actually predict snow on the ground, only trends in temperature and possible precipitation. We all know how different our micro-climate can be compared to other parts of the Island or BC, so keep that in mind. 🙂

GOOD LUCK! (questions? alberniweather@gmail.com)

Here are the rules:

#1: You must pick a date, hour, and minute on a zero (eg. December 3 12:40). The date you choose must be after the closing date of the choosing period (see Rule #5).

#2: Closest time wins.

#3: You must enter your choice in the comments section of this post.

#4: You only get one choice. But see #7 for changing your mind.

#5: You have 1 week to make your choices, choices must be entered by 6AM Monday, November 12, 2012..

#6: A measureable amount is generally when the snow completely covers the ground with no gaps and registers at least 1cm on a standard ruler or tape measure. Snow must be measured on the ground on grass, rather than a deck, or sidewalk or road.

#7: You can change your guess at anytime before the end of the guessing period. I will use the last guess posted from you in the comments.

#8: I reserve the right to add to or change these rules since I probably missed something. 🙂

……….

So that’s it. Start picking! As your guesses start to come in I will put them on a Google Calendar so that you can see them all.

Good Luck!

    1. Thanks Sandy I took this one since it was your last… remember everyone that you CAN change your mind until the guessing period closes next Monday. You can also guess any time, any day as long as its not the same 10 minute block as anyone else.

🙂 my pick will be Jan 11th @ 4 pm

    1. Thanks Lynn, glad you like them! :+) I always look forward to them too. Especially the snow one for some reason. Send an email around to your friends too… the more people the more suspense, the more fun!

  2. Dec 1, 4pm, only because I have a party to go to out of town, so of course it will be a blizzard!

  3. David has put in a guess for Monday November 12 at 6:00AM (the soonest guess you can enter) By email due to an issuewith the comments and INternet Explorer. Thanks David!

  4. It might accumulate by Nov 12 04:00am, but since that is before the official contest time, I’ll have to go with Nov 24, 06:00am

    1. My mistake, didn’t read all the rules. How about Nov. 12, 2012 @ 0600 there will be snow on the ground from my original post. 🙂

  5. I would like to change my original guess. I am about ready to throw in the towel on November. Would like to change from November 23 to December 10, 04:30. Thanks.
