Snow clinging to higher elevations and South east island.

Much like last week, the models seem to be backing off on snow in our little Valley.
Here is the latest forecast for accumuluations between Thursday and Friday afternoon.

Here is the same image zoomed in to the Island. You can see that our Valley is noticeably excluded from the festive colours of snowfall. We are not totally skunked, the ever so faint green shows it expects a trace of snow, much like we had last week.

Where will there actually be snow?20131218-072044.jpg

The hump and Sutton pass look to be a sure thing, the Hump will likely get wet snow in the air more than on the road, but the model also shows significant (in blue) snowfall, up to 4 inches (remember this is an American model… Over 10cm) south of Nanaimo from what looks like Ladysmith all the way to the Malahat and into Duncan, Cowichan and Mill Bay.

So if you are driving to or from Victoria, please be aware. I may update this forecast later this morning after the morning forecasts have run.

Christmas itself looks green, but dry. The weekend looks wet. 🙂
