Showers late Saturday morning then dry and warm. Burn ban, campfires only.

Outdoor Burn Ban in effect. Campfires only.

It is April 15 and that means the outdoor burning ban of anything larger than a campfire goes into effect.  If you are in the City of Port Alberni it is anticipated that this ban will now be permanent as the City has commited to outlawing all outdoor burning larger than a campfire year ’round. The City has also got the support of other communities on the Island to urge the Ministry of Environment to put in new stricter regulations for slash burning by forest companies near communities.  This is all to try to improve what is consistently some of the poorest air quality in the province in the Island valleys. Showers Saturday Warm Sunday

The rains are definitely starting to diminish as we getting further into Spring.  We have just a chance of some showers on Saturday afternoon between 9AM and 2PM.

That will keep things pretty cool with highs around 10°C.

It should warm up a bit on Sunday though and we have a chance of some sunny breaks as temperatures go up fast to around 23-26°C which would get us easily back into record territory.

It is interesting to note that the Environment Canada and UWash forecasts are at odds with each other once again.  EC has us only getting to 20°C (still a record) on Sunday while they are calling for 27°C on Monday.

Heat continues Monday then backs off but sunny.

Uwash is calling for much hotter temperatures on the mainland, over 30°C again and up to 27°C in portalberni and possibly hotter on the south Island.

It backs off to around 15°C on Tuesday but it should still be sunny after some morning clouds or fog.

Happy Friday all!
