Records fall. Heat breaks a little early week, then back.

No doubt about it, Saturday and Sunday were the hottest of the year.  And yes we even beat a couple short term records.  I’ll dig into the long term records on July 2 when I write up the monthly summary,!

The list of records broken across the province on Saturday was impressive, some went as far back as the 1890s!

Another raft of records were broken on Sunday as well. Including us. Though we didn’t get this hot in the City at Alberniweather.

What’s in Store for Monday?

There was a chance of thunderstorms Monday morning, but the latest models are leaning less in that direction.  Perhaps the activity on Sunday evening a little ways away from us got it out of the system.

CIokYGpUsAQbGQAThat bit of excitement actually brought some rain to areas around Nanaimo.  Didn’t actually produce any lightning even though Seattle had to deal with some most of the day.

Monday will have a slight chance of thunder again but probably not.  It will be warm again but not as warm.  We should not get above 30ºC.

Tuesday a little cooler than Monday

It only shows just above 20º C for Tuesday afternoon.

Warming again Wednesday, Canada Day!

It approaches 30ºC again on Canada Day, but only up to 29ºC if this forecast holds.

Thursday looks like the warmest day of the week but it should moderate again if UWash is correct.  I see Environment Canada has things a little hotter, we’ll see who’s right.

Vacation time and New Server for Alberniweather!

I’m on vacation from VIU until August 15, which is awesome.  So my posting schedule might vary a bit.. (as you may have noticed from this evenings post :)).  I’ll still be posting regularly though.

Also… Good News! My excellent web host at ace-host.net services just upgraded me for free to their new improved hosting service. I am hoping you all see a nice boost in responsiveness and speed when browsing alberniweather.ca.

In the words of the tech:
“This new server has much more memory and disk space, and accounts on it are given 2GB RAM and 4MB/s I/O, compared to the current server’s limits of 256MB RAM and 256KB/s IO.Checking your account, it looks like you are hitting your CPU and IO limits much more than Process Limits, so the move should be very beneficial and should remove most of the resource issues you are currently running into.”
Most of the bars in the picture were red most of the time over the past year or two. I like green!
