Rainy week but still calling for sun on weekend

Ok so the just past weekend wasn’t the greatest. It really did seem like we would get some nice weather on saturday and sunday early in the week but it didn’t really pan out.

My mom remarked on Saturday that the rain on Saturday was like an Irish mist. Soaks you to the bone!

Sunday was a little nicer though and we had the ultimate non-weather sign that summer is on its way when the Hawaii Mars lumbered over the city. Causing people to stop whatever they were doing to watch. I imagine they were doing their first checkouts of the season.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture.

Edit: Here’s a picture provided to me by Dan Schubart of the Mars doing it’s thing! Note this was not yesterday, but it’s a great picture!

There are also plenty of flowers and buds and bushes in bloom… Here are some at VIU.

I’m again going to be optimistic for this weekend. The forecast could always change of course, but there looks to be a good bit of high pressure building in on Friday and Saturday and that should bring with it clearer skies and temperatures near 20C.

Until then, keep looking for rainbows.

Oh, and thanks to Healthy Habits for again offering a prize for the upcoming first-day-of-30C contest. I’ll post the contest post on May 1 🙂

  1. Lived in town all my life (except a few summers on the coast) and I still to this day will drop everything when I hear the roar of 10,000 horsepower coming at you in the sky…

  2. I used to wake to the bombers every morning in the summer (our house was right across from them) and I still run outside when I hear them coming!

  3. Michael Kuss on CTV tonight said that the high pressure coming in for the weekend looks like it will stick around well into next week.
