The chances of this global (Antarctic and Arctic) sea ice crash being ‘random chance’ (ie. natural) are roughly 0.00000057%.

So please… don’t bore me with quibbles about whether humanity is causing global warming and climate change.  It is, and it is having a gigantic impact and if we don’t stop soon, we really can’t know what the future holds for us.  All we know is that the past several tens of thousands of years of stable climate were pretty good for human evolution.

That’s all for now…

Oh, and here is an explanation of the significance of “5 sigma” standard deviation from normal.

  1. Boring you is the last thing I would want to do. More importantly, we might want to quit deluding ourselves that we can carry on because of whatever skepticism there might be about the changing climate. Unless we are already at death’s door, we’re likely by a factor of 1/0.0000000057 to suffer the consequences. For those without a calculator of spreadsheet handy, that would come out to about 175438596.49122807017544 to 1 that you will suffer the consequences (one chance in 175 million that you would be able to avoid consequences. Not good odds. You would be lonely.)
