We should be on track for a very pleasant week.  For those of you still on vacation, or who work outside or at least with a window in your office, you should be pretty pleased.

The Models have no chance of rain before Saturday!

There is a big high out in the Pacific that appears to just be keeping enough of the systems away to the north that we are protected.

It does not appear as though it will expand any further north or east though so it won’t allow any really hot air to come up from the deep south, which is probably a good thing.

The campfire ban remains in effect as do watering restrictions for our area even though the wildfire danger rating is now Moderate for the Alberni Valley after last weeks rain and cooler weather.

DR-2As you can see though, there is a lot of variability to the Island’s danger ratings right now.  The rain we got was very sporadic and still not all that quenching.  So no matter where you are on the Island, please continue to be careful and vigilant.

The forecast on the bcwildfire.ca website (Beaver Creek) is slated to move back to High by Thursday.  Expect other stations that are already high now to move into the Extreme danger rating.

The long range Canadian Ensemble has very little precipitation for us right through to the end of the month so unless we get another bout of thunderstorms (which carry their own fire dangers of course), don’t expect any more rain to help with water levels.
