The forecast for the day is for a whopping 4mm of rain. If that rain actually happens I think it’s safe to say your grass and garden won’t notice it.

This is the only hint of precipitation on the GFS model. EC does say there is a chance for rain on Tuesday but that has never appeared on the GFS model so don’t expect much if anything.

The more pressing concern is wildfires. There have already been fairly serious fires in the past month near Langford, Shawnigan Lake and Duncan. And now yesterday a new fire appeared in a logged area near Horne Lake.

Reports this morning are that 25 firefighters are working on the fire, there were helicopters working yesterday and it is not yet fully contained but they hoped to have it under control this morning. CHEK news twitter feed said it was 7 hectares yesterday but the Peak is reporting it as only 2 hectares. It won’t appear on bcwildfire.ca unless it gets over 10 hectares.

The dry bush this time of year is exceptional. We have been pretty lucky that the fires we have had have not been bigger or more aggressive.

The real rain around the 10th of October has appeared again on the long range forecast. Lets hope it sticks around and we get back to being Green.

  1. Well it looks like you only measured .75mm, Alberni elementary measured 1.2mm, and EC got 1.4mm yesterday, so it was all dried up by mid-afternoon. So our official total for September now stands at 3.4mm. Wow.
