UPDATE BEWARE COMMUTERS : Morning slush ends by afternoon.. no Evening!

UPDATE. 12:33PM

The snow is coming down hard and fast in areas. Pleae use extreme caution on the roads.

The new models say we won’t dry out until 4PM-5PM in Port Alberni and later on the East Coast. Whether this falls as rain or snow is extremely difficult to predict, so assume the worst for safety.

Here is the 4PM image. Notice the large blob lingering over the Errington/Parksville area.

Please be careful. And if you have reports please do share them here in the comments or on the Alberniweaher Facebook page or @Alberniweather on Twitter.

Stay safe and enjoy the snow if you can!

____________

The rain is thick out there. If you are going up the Hump or Sutton pass don’t be surprised if slush starts to form on the roads. For the most part thought, this will remain a rain event away from the mountains.

The rain should end by noon with just a few scattered showers left through the afternoon and evening.

A much weaker system will spread showers over the Island Wednesday morning. The models don’t even have use getting wet, but I would still expect some chance of rain.

On Wednesday night another stronger system will come through with the chance of more wet snow falling at higher elevations and possibly down into town.

This will linger through Thursday. There is more rain and possible snow Friday and Sunday. We will see what happens.

Happy Tuesday all!
