We are set for another week of sunshine and hot weather.

The most important part about this weather will be the fire danger. Yesterday was the first day we hit an Extreme fire rating and the forecast from the BC Wildifre website shows we will stay that way for the foreseeable future. (Look here under Beaver Creek).

The Martin Mars water bomber has already been busy in the past couple weeks fighting fires in the Interior and in Powell River.

Please, if you smoke, put your butts in an ash tray. If you are camping, no campfires unless you are in the fog zone on the West Coast. If you are an ATV or dirt bike enthusiast, or you are out on the logging roads carry some water and watch for sparks catching in the bush.

We are not likely to get any lightning in the next week, so the most likely cause of forest fires is from human activity.

If you see smoke or a fire, call: 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a cellular phone.

Here’s last weeks time-lapse!
