UPDATE: Good to see Environment Canada came around 😉 Get those kids out early… it’s gonna be a grad and dash halloween!

Oh, and sorry Eve, looks like they’re getting wind over on the East Coast right now, but none here. Might be the same tomorrow.

The EnvCanada forecast is currently calling for a not bad Halloween night, but I’m not so sure.

Here’s a quick update:

#1:
Saturday is going to be windy, and rainy.
This is the model run for precipitation and wind at 8AM Saturday morning

Deep blue is 20mm in 3 hrs…. and that will be on it’s way by then. The Darker green is 30knot winds on the water… we shouldn’t get much above 40kph.
Saturday Oct 30
Saturday Wind Oct 30

It’s going to last all day. So it will be a great day to go puddle jumping, dancing in the rain, or curling up by a cozy fire. There should also be some wind with it, though not anything more than we got last weekend.

#2:
Sorry folks, Halloween night just is not looking very good. Here is the run for 7PM on Sunday.
Sunday Precip Oct 31
Sunday Wind Oct 31

As you can see both the rain and wind event will be much stronger with Hurricane force (red) winds off of the North coast of the Island and Strong Gales to Storm force down here. We should get a whole bunch of rain in the Valley and winds possibly above 50kph.

So if you have kids, the earlier you get them out on Sunday, the better… before 5 would be good probably.

  1. The biggest value I have in the database was from a rain/snow melt event which was 162mm/hr (there was snow on the collector obviously)

I’d have to double check but I think the largest mm/hr value from just rain was during the big storms in 2005/2006 up around 50 or 60mm/hr
