It rained! At least a little. Truth and Reconciliation Day weather looks good.

Finally

Finally some measurable precipitation on the rain gauge!! Granted it’s only 1.3mm, but we’ll take every drop! Clouds will persist and showers should continue off and on through the rest of the day. It won’t be a big amount of moisture, but it’ll help.

Major Hurricane Ian making landfall now

The Satellite Imagery coming from Florida right now is spectacular and extremely dangerous as Category 4 (nearly Cat 5) Hurricane Ian makes landfall on the western Florida coast near Tamp Bay. The image below is from 8:20AM. Just a shockingly large eye.

Like Fiona, the storm surge will probably produce the most devastating damage and loss of life as it’s expected to surge up to 15ft/3m. It is essentially a Tsunami, produced by a storm system. Let’s hope people were able to evacuate (and did).

National Truth and Reconciliation Day forecast. Sunny!

There are a number of events happening for NTRD day this year. The biggest one again appears to be the walk from Harbour Quay to Tseshaht MahtMahs Gym. The forecast is calling for sun and 26ºC so if you are walking you might want to bring some water with you at least and probably wear light clothing. Keep an eye out for fog in the morning though that may linger so be prepared to grab a sweatshirt or jacket that you can tie around your waist.

The weather should be fine for the afternoon and evening events.

Weekend: Sunny!

The same goes for the weekend. Sunny skies will dominate. There might be some early morning fog, but it will burn off and we should get into the mid to high twenties both Saturday and Sunday. It looks like it’ll cool a bit early next week but there is still no significant rainfall.

Happy Wednesday!
