Heavy rain might mix snow today. Heavy snow on high terrain.

A fairly intense system should enter and exit the picture today.

Starting around 1PM

Showers should begin around 1PM and for most of the rest of the central Island by 4PM.

Where you see the heaviest rainfall, the blue areas below, those will be the places most likely to see snow mix in as the temperature is cool enough for the heavy rain to drag the freezing level down further and bring wet snow especially at high elevation.

Rain Scale – Millimeters on top, centi-inches on bottom. (1024cin = 10 inches)

We might see some wet snow fall in Port Alberni and other ocean side places but it is not likely to stick.

The system will move across the entire Island this afternoon and then quickly depart before 10PM tonight for most central Island places.

Friday will stay mostly dry. We might even see some sunny breaks.

Rain and wet snow will return Saturday and Sunday.

Happy Boxing Day!
