There is a lot of moisture poised to come our way.

By 1PM today the front will be at our collective doorsteps.

It’s been a long time since we’ve see one of these typical west coast storms, but it’s finally here.

The latest model run indicates most of the rain, up to 65mm in the Valley (in pink below) will fall between 4PM Friday and 4PM Saturday. Again, this is very normal for this time of year, and boy is it needed.

There is also some concern over winds. A wind warning has been issued for East Vancouver Island. I don’t expect too much wind in Alberni. The mountains should protect us from most of it. At the height of the rain tonight though we will likely see some gusting winds.

The best news out of all this will be the boost this is going to give to Mt. Washington. They should get a significant dump of snow, as should the snow pack in general on the Island.

Anything is better than the zero it is still showing today at Jump Creek southeast of Mt. Arrowsmith.
