Happy Easter, A little more wind, and changing the view

Happy Easter everyone.

The Easter Bunny has visited our place this morning. I hope he hopped over to your place too. And I hope those of you who are celebrated the more traditional Easter are enjoying it as well.

Weather-wise we will be having a little more wind and rain today. Nothing like Friday though. Of course, if you were in the City all day you probably didn’t notice anything! The wind came right out of the SE so the only thing I can figure is that our big mountain blocked it for us. Friends in Beaver Creek weren’t so lucky as the wind was able to swoop in over the Beauforts and cause some havoc. Still though, nothing like the Hurricane force (60knot/110kph) gusts they got on the East Coast (Saturna Island off Qualicum Beach, and in Mill Bay near Victoria.)

At some point, hopefully *before* the rain today. I will be heading up the ladder to do the seasonal cleaning of the station and switching of the Camera. The webcam can’t point at the sun, as it will burn in a spot in the lens, so now that the sun has risen enough in the sky I can swing it around to the South and get a nice view of downtown Port Alberni and the Inlet.

  1. I noticed some odd colours in your webcam images lately? Does it need an white balance correction? Yesterday was lots of purple like colours, and today there is a bit of green in the sky.

  2. Ya I’m not sure what’s been going on there. I’ve tried to reset it a few times to no avail. I’m wondering if maybe it’s the camera itself that is starting to show its age/affect from the weather.

  3. Me thinks my freshly cleaned rain tippers are a little more sensitive than before, but I did notice Cameron River and Roger Creek looked a little fatter and browner this afternoon.

  4. Sure hope my house(Port) didnt float away..(or do I)
Have to check on it this weekend
I had all 4 seasons on the commute from Victoria to Cobble Hill this eve, sun, rain, wind, snow(the malahat was a light flurry)

  5. Well, I took advantage of yesterdays nice weather to move my wind sensors up about 7 or 8 feet. Seems to be getting better readings. Sure noticed how dry this air is that the winds brought in this morning. Humidity dropped almost 50% in just under an hour.
