It’s going to be a bright beautiful day.  In fact, it’s going to be a bright beautiful WEEK!

RedfordStreeJune22014
This was how my morning started… looking up Redford Street toward Mt. Arrowsmith and the rising sun.  Another beautiful start to the day.  And while there might be a few thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon today, through the balance of the week we should see pretty much nothing but sun!

What will you do with all this beautiful weather?  Sun tan?  Gardening?  Water Park?  Canal Beach?

That brings me to another topic… I have promised to use this blog as little as possible for campaigning while I run for council but as you know right now Council is facing a major decision.

The BeachI believe we need to take the opportunity while we have it and use the full Plywood Site as a public access beach park.  At the very least, we should set in motion a public process to decide its fate before a 25 year lease is signed.  Leaving it contaminated and under used for another 25 years just doesn’t seem smart.  Check out my post on www.chrisalemany.ca, the “Beach is symbolic of Port Alberni’s potential and needed direction“.  Send a letter to the paper or council or come on Monday night next week to voice your opinion.  It may seem like this is just a bit of beach… but it’s a symbol of a much larger issue about where growth and prosperity will come from in our future.
