Friday pockets then Dump and Wash Monday and Tuesday.

The models are firming up.

First, we have what look like some light flurries but possible accumulation of fluffy snow on Friday along parts of the East Coast.

And there are snowy looking clouds in the Strait this morning off Nanaimo.

It won’t amount to much, but there is possibility for accumulation, and thus poor driving conditions in very localized areas.

The main event though is Monday.

A front will sweep in with light snow falling as early as 1-4AM Monday morning.

This is a traditional – cold air stuck in the valley with warm rain overtop – scenario.

How much we get as snow and how much we get as rain will depend on how intense the rain is falling. The More intense it is, the more it will pull down the temperature and turn to heavy snow. The less intense, and it might just be cold mist or tiny snow pellets.

The models are looking at between an inch and two inches focused at higher elevations and in the Comox and Nanaimo area.

If you are driving anywhere on the East coast or Sutton Pass this holiday weekend you should be prepared for winter driving conditions. There is also always the possibility of freezing rain in a changeover like this.

Enjoy the last few days of beautiful cold weather! Next week looks warm and wet!
