11AM – EC has ended the Freezing Rain Warning

EC has issued the following warning.  The threat should pass by early afternoon. Be careful out there.

4:46 AM PST Wednesday 06 January 2016
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Inland Vancouver Island
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

An upper disturbance crossing Vancouver Island will bring areas of freezing rain this morning. The freezing rain is due to temperatures remaining just below freezing near the surface and an above freezing layer aloft. The freezing rain will end by late this morning as the disturbance moves to the north.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm.
