Forecast calmed. Thursday night/Friday looking stormy

Good News. The forecast has calmed considerably for us here in Port Alberni. Bad News (for some) we won’t be getting much chance for snow until Thursday night.

If you are going to the Mainland though, be prepared to encounter snow anywhere east of Vancouver. The Fraser Valley is still under a snowfall warning.

Victoria is also under a warning and looking at the radar this morning it appears they’re getting a good stream of moisture.

Washington state will be getting the majority of the snow over the next couple days, you’ll likely be hearing lots about it on the American news broadcasts today and tonight.

For us, we will remain cold for another couple of days. There is a chance that outflows will set up that could bring more substantial snow across to the East Coast of the Island (Nanaimo, Parksville) tonight and tomorrow so be aware of that.

Thursday night this overall pattern is supposed to break and we will be on the receiving end of two storms back-to-back. The first on Thursday night through Friday could very well bring us a big dump of snow depending on if the cold air sticks around. There will also be a threat of freezing rain.

The following storm 24hr later should be all wet.

Both storms are strong enough (980mb) to bring strong winds, so there is a chance of a repeat of what we had in November.

Stay Safe out there.
