Lots to talk about this morning!

First, hopefully you got outside yesterday to enjoy the warmest weather in Canada. OK, not officially, but it was 21C on my station and the official hotspot in Canada was North Cowichan at 20C. You likely saw the fire on the other side of the Beauforts. I first noticed it around noon and snapped this picture from the Harbour Quay. You can see it on the right.

I got another picture of it in the background with a neighbours tree that was quickly loosing leaves in the strong northwesterly breeze around 2PM.

And here is a final picture of it just as the sun was setting behind the mountains, taken from the Legion hall.

Just by the smoke, you can tell how much bigger it got overtime. You can also see the smoke spilling into and flowing out of the Valley in yesterday’s timelapse.

So when might the rain come to put out this fire? Well, Wednesday evening we should get a little rain, but I doubt it will really be enough to put it out for good.

Halloween looks dry for our neck of the woods. Great for the kids, but not so much for fires.

I will update both the Halloween forecast and the Saturday storm forecast as the time approaches. Until then, enjoy the clear skies, or at least as clear as they can be! Too bad the Martin Mars couldn’t have taken care of that fire for us.
