Final day of heat. Thunderstorms possible. Normal temps and sun rest of week.

Update 8AM:

The heat wave ends today.  EC has updated its Special Weather Statement to mention instead the thunderstorms expected to develop this afternoon.  We are still preojected to get up to 31°C this afternoon and I would expect there to be a little more humidity in the air today so it might feel a little hotter than it is.

UWash shows the most likely place for thunder and lightning is in Northern sections of Inland Vancouver Island.  Gold River and Strathcona areas.

But that doesnt mean it could not slide further down.  The threat appears to start around noon and last into the evening.

We will cool slightly Thursday (the first day of Summer!) with temperatures in the upper 20s and then we will cloud over Friday with a risk of showers, but it looks like a very small risk at this point for Port Alberni.

The 24hr period between 5PM Thursday/Friday shows most of the moisture falling on the east side if the Island and the Alberni Valley only getting a little bit.

The rest of the outlook to Monday and beyond looks quite pleasant with temperatures around 20°C, dry, and a mix of sun and cloud.

Don’t get zapped today! 🙂

Happy Wednesday!
