Contest Begins – Weather Station offline 10 days or more.

As I noted last week, my station is in need of repair. So later today I will be dismantling it and removing it from my roof so I can send it back to California to get repaired and upgraded. This means the current weather values will be offline until it comes back. I would anticipate it to be gone for at least 10 days possibly as long as two weeks.

The website will remain online for that time with the blog, webcams and other information. It kinda sucks that it has to happen now, but such is life. It’s been a good 5 year run of continuous data in the wind, snow, sleet, rain and hail.

The contest is now active.

I won’t be accepting any guesses put in after 6AM today. There are a few that I haven’t entered in yet.

We had a pretty close call yesterday with the sleet and snow but it never accumulated he at Alberniweather HQ so the contest is intact. PHEWW! 🙂

David had a chance of there being snow on the ground this morning and claiming the win but the heavy rain last night took care of that.

The passes got the worst of it. There were pretty nasty conditions on Sutton Pass and while there wasn’t much accumulated on the Hump, it was foggy and sleeting at the same time which I’m sure made for pretty hairy driving.

Stay safe out there, and make sure you have proper winter tires.

As for when I think we might get some real snow? Well.. I tend to think that November is going to be more wet than white… But there does seem to be a chance around the 22nd though nothing big. I’m leaning more towards December or January before we get a real dump of snowfall. I’ll put my guess in for December 21, 6AM.

Hope all of you had a great weekend!
