Chilly morning. Watch for ice in the fog. Wet flurries possible tomorrow

A very chilly start to the day today. We had a windchill below -5c last night and our low temperature is -2.2C right now.

Hopefully the fog lifts, it does not seem too thick this morning and it is beautiful and cold outside the Valley.

There is a lunar eclipse Saturday morning at 6AM (partial eclipse start before 5AM). Probably not a great chance to see it not only because of the fog but also because we can expect some clouds to be rolling in that will give us a chance for flurries.

There is another chance at flurries or snow on Tuesday. We will know by the end of the weekend what that will look like.

Sunday should be pretty nice, again, if the fog holds off (which there is a better chance it will).

And finally, the week leading to Christmas looks like a change from the dry pattern we have been in. Stay tuned.

  1. NICE SITE!
“very chilly start…” you wrote; well, it was -22 this morning up here in Fort McMurray.
I live in Port Alberni but have to go this far to find work.
Your site is a great connection to my home town and I look at it almost every day.
    Thanks for your fantastic work!

  2. Thanks capitanpitt! 🙂

Yes, “very chilly” is always a relative term. I’m sure 15C would be considered “very chilly” in Puerto Vallarta too. :+)

  3. Got ya beat, Chris! We bottomed at -3.2 this morning! Yikes that was cold. Glad I’d plugged my diesel in last night. She sure appreciated the warmth when I turned the key this morning to head for work. I’m hearing the ‘S’ word being bandied around for out here, but that means cloud cover, which would warm us up too much for that white stuff. You hear anything?

  4. The precipitation forecast on the GFS has been flip-flopping.  It looks like flurries are a real possibility later today, but the chance of precip in the coming days has gone down some.

  5. No snowfall out here. But it’s flippin’ cold again! Truck’s plugged in as I go back to work for the third day in a row. Be nice if we did actually see a little snow out here – might make my Xmas lights look better!
