Changing to rain soon… The deep freeze in a week?

I’m surprised that we still have a snowfall warning in effect for our region. Im guessing that that perhaps other parts of inland Vancouver island like Gold River will be getting more snow than us. Our accumulations just didn’t quite live up to the predictions.

Regardless, the switch to rain will come today as the winds strengthen and push out the lastof the cold air.

We are still in for 100mm worth of rain over the next two days. Nothing too major, your standard winter fare.

Next week it gets interesting again. The weather nuts are abuzz about the big chill coming to most of North America next week. Very very very cold if your headed into the prairies, and some of that air is still slated to make it out West here with temps down to -15c. Eek.

A shout out to the folks in Nunavut who are setting records for warmth. 6-8C above normal for weeks now. The ice still has not come to many parts of the Eastern Canadian Arctic.

  1. I’m looking forward to the sun on the weekend – I hope it penetrates our usual layer of fog!

  2. After the cold….another possibility of snow mid to later next week. I wonder when they’ll issue the warning?

  3. I just watched the temp go up 4 degrees so far in the last 20 minutes. I had to go outside just to confirm it felt warmer. Got good wind going on here to, and your place doesn’t really reflect it. Funny micro-systems within parts of town.
