Chance Showers Wed/Thur Then Dry. And Salmon Fest Needs You!

We have a short break from the blue sky and heat today and tomorrow as some light showers creep into the region.

ALERT: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SALMON FESTIVAL! SHORT TIMESLOTS , BIG COMMUNITY EVENT. SEE DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OR CALL Chris Washington at (250) 731-6481

The greatest chance in Port Alberni on both days will be in the early afternoon. It will also feel quite muggy today.

Here is Wednesday 11-2. Notice there is stronger rain along the east side of the Island from Courtenay down to Nanaimo.

And Thursday 11-2

The pattern looks a little like it could produce a bit of thunder but there isn’t anything to that effect in the forecasts or models. (Though there is further north and on the west coast).

The clouds should clear by Thursday night and then full sun will return and tenperatures will climb back toward 30°C.

Salmon Festival Needs Your Help!

As with many long time organizations, Salmon Festival is having trouble finding volunteers as old-timers move on.  The Festival is one of the biggest events in Port Alberni and one of the longest running and most internationally well known.  It needs your help.

It is at Tyee Landing this year (the new pier beside the Fisherman’s Harbour) near Harbour Quay.

If you can spare just three hours of your time on the Labour Day weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, please, give Chris Washington a call or email.

Her message: “I can be reached at chrisgibson@shaw.ca, on my cell at (250) 731-6481 or at the store at (250) 724-5851. The volunteer work we are asking for assistance with is neither back breaking nor dirty work. In fact, it can be a lot of fun!”
