Chance of strait effect snow – Andrew Weaver 7PM Char’s

As happened on Sunday night in parts of Nanaimo, today there will be a chance that outflow winds from the interior will blow across the strait and cause localized flurries or even sudden snowfall on the East Coast of the Island anywhere from Comox to Duncan. You might see nothing or you might see a lot, it’s very difficult to predict but the models show some activity in the Comox and Denman/Hornby Island areas.

It is unlikely to affect any place in the Alberni Valley. The closest to here would likely be Cameron Lake and Little Qualicum Falls/Whiskey Creek. There were light flurries along Cameron Lake when I went through this morning at 6:30AM.

Your best bet will be to check the webcam page here to monitor the highway cams and go to the Satellites imagery page to access the radar. Right now, the radar looks clear.

It’s going to be cold tonight and tomorrow! Bundle up.

Also, one last reminder to take advantage of the fact we have a world class climate scientist in Andrew Weaver speaking at Char’s Landing tonight at 7PM. See you there!
