It will be very cold for the next day or two and then there is a chance of snow on Thursday with rain right behind it.

I’ve just come from Port Alberni to VIU in Nanaimo and the roads are generally clear. The Hump is heavily sanded with some snowy sections. It’s passable but I think winter tires is an absolute must, or chains. Highway 19 has some slippery sections, go slow, but in general it is good, traffic was moving normally and there was no one in the ditch.

Enjoy the beautiful, and early, winter weather!

Report from the Bamfield Road Safety Association:

Bamfield Road has been graded and is open to 4×4′s and those with chains. Some slippery sections. Use your road sense.

  1. Came into town today. Um, who plowed those roads? Yikes! I was glad for my 4×4 today! We have no snow on the roads out here, just some on the grass. My poor truck registered -14c on the overhead this morning at 8am in town!
