Blogging from the bus, it must be summer

Today is going to be beautiful. Tomorrow is going to be beautiful. Saturday, well, not perfect.

We’re going to get a little cloud roll in for Saturday and Sunday and it will cool the temperatures down some. But the good news remains. The chance of rain over the long weekend remains low and I’d say there is a lot of upside to the forecast so you might just end up with a really great weather picture if you’re doing any camping.

I’m blogging using my new ipad2 as I sit on the city bus to VIU. It’s pretty freaking awesome actually. 🙂

I know you guys have been wanting some details on the long range forecast into summer.

I’ve been checking on the long range stuff and my feeling is this:

Were going to dry out first. Possibly as soon as this weekend and it will last through August. June can be a crap shoot and even downright miserable, but I think in the main we will end up with a reasonably dry June.

Most forecasters have been predicting below normal temperatures for the extreme west coast of BC. This is where I’m going to go out on a limb and say I think we’ll have average to even above average temperatures. There is only a very fine line in the forecasts between the Interior where it is slated to be extremely dry with above normal temps… and us, with cooler temps. I think we will be getting a lot more of the hot dry air spilling out of the Interior than thy anticipate. And that likely also means a smokey summer if the fires in Alberta are any indication of what is ahead.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I’ll try to blog again tomorrow.

  1. Current forecast says rain on Sat/Sun?!?!?! WTF?!? I’m going camping Friday, I don’t need no stinkin’ rain spoiling it! But, it’s been nice in Ukee the past few days, even got the lawn mowed for the 1st time this year.

  2. Well Chris, you said it here first, but I was thinking the same thing about the summer forecast after reading it on Accuweather.  If the drier than normal prediction comes true, then I really doubt if it will be cooler than normal.  I think that once we get a good steady high pressure bubble over us, say by mid-July at the latest, we should get at least normal temperatures.  Wow – we cracked 20C today!

  3. What happened to the sunny weekend? Now it is cloudy with showers all long weekend!! No wonder people get frustrated with the weatherman.
