We’re looking down the barrel at quite the powerful little system coming at us tonight.

Saturday afternoon and evening should be the worst of it. There are already warnings flying for the East, West, and South Coast of Vancouver Island as well as the Sunshine Coast.

What I find most interesting though is where there is *not* a warning (yet?). And that’s the North end of the Island. I wonder if that means they expect the storm to come over us?

Who knows. Anyway, it’s pretty to look at. Check it out on the water vapor animations. Awesome.

We should get up into at least the 50kph range with the possibility that we get gusts into the 70s. They are always shy about putting up a wind warning for our region, so I always expect more than what they predict for us, especially those nearest the Harbour or out in deepest Beaver Creek.

Stay safe, have some candles handy, and have fun!

  1. We got down to 986.x mb overnight. And man it was windy last night! Wasn’t sure the power was gonna hold for the dance I was doing. And I got soaked loading the gear out at the end!

  2. Hi Eve!

I’ve been wanting to do an update the past couple days but have been just too busy.. but I *have* found a really sweet, and free, forecasting service, so I’ll be using that in the next update.

    Coming soon!
