Well it looks like I’ve destroyed another digital camera. 🙁

You may have noticed the image go black on Thursday. After some investigation, it looks like the shutter is dead on it. I managed to revive it, but it ain’t pretty.

I will have to try again if I want an HD quality web camera….

It will take a little while for me to bring the other web camera back online.

Sorry folks!

  1. Holy crap, Chris. What the heck are you doing to them?!?!?! I’m still using my D-Link DCS-900 that I originally installed on the roof in early 2007! It’s picture isn’t the best, and I’d like to upgrade it, but even with the uber-wet conditions out here, it keeps on ticking. I have the bottom of the enclosure open to let air circulate, and have found the dessicant bags sopping wet, but the camera just keeps on going. Unfortunately, it’s no longer made….

  2. I still have Netcam webcam. It’s going strong, but I’ve been trying to find something with better quality than what the network cams provide.

I have a few more options, we’ll see. I really want the quality but refuse to give up 1000 for the Netcam variety.

  3. I hear ya. I’d love to get a better camera to replace mine. Maybe once the current one packs it in I will, but I just can’t justify the expense right now.

Hope you find a good one that will last a while!
