Hi everyone.

I’m in the midst of updating the look and feel of the website!

I have a “beta” version of the website available here:

http://www.alberniweather.ca/developer

Go on over there and leave a comment (the two are completely seperate, no registration required) and let me know what you might like to see more or less of…. or just to tell me how good or terrible it looks! 😀

See you there, enjoy the Sun!

Chris

  1. new pages look good for a work in progress.. I overhauled mine recently too… gotta love plug and play templates sometimes.

How often is your update from your house to the server? I got some wicked AJAX updates going on mine for updates every 4 seconds. Mind you, the wx station and http apps are on the same computer.

  2. Ya, the most frequent I can get is 60 seconds. I dont think my internet connection is good enough to get any better than that between my house and my server anyway.

Would love to see the AJAX code your site uses, I want to use AJAX for mine as well, one of my own personal goals for the new site is to learn AJAX.

  3. Chris, check out http://saratoga-weather.org/template/index.php these are the templates I’m running with a couple slight changes… specifically the Canadian multi-language one. Its quite involved with PHP, I’m sure glad someone else has the brainpower for that… I can debug, but I’d never be able to piece together something like this from scratch.

  4. That’s awesome I’ll see if I can integrate some of that stuff into mine.

To others. Please, if you have any comments or concerns or suggestions don’t be afraid to let me know what you like and especially what you don’t like!

I will listen and try to fix it I promise! But I can’t fix what I don’t know is wrong. 🙂

  5. Chris, I just moved to Port Alberni at the end of last August and I was glad to come across your website. I am interested in weathe as a user and I really like your new format. One of the things that I use your site for is to get a better idea of the temperature outside since I think I live in the same general area and the temperature here is often different from the airport temperature that Environment Canada Posts. I find it irritating with the current site to have to scroll down to the temp. and other key information. The new one is a great improvement. You provide a lot of great information on your site and I really appreciate it. Thanks.
